L1D is a Swiss FINMA-authorized asset manager led by an experienced interdisciplinary team. We invest in leading protocols and companies in the crypto space and actively allocate to top-performing crypto funds and businesses globally from our Zurich and New York offices.

Role

Internal counsel and the firm's first legal hire as part of a broader initiative in the business's expansion. The portfolio of responsibilities is cross-functional and will be influenced by the individual to be hired in terms of expertise and capability. Responsibilities will include:

• Due diligence – doc review on all investments and counterparty agreements
• Transaction support – drafting of terms, agreements, side letters
• Support Group Compliance and Risk Management
• Fund and SPV formation
• Portfolio company support where applicable
• Work with external counsel
• Proactively track and assess U.S. and global regulatory developments impacting digital assets and funds, escalating risks and considerations to senior stakeholders as needed.
• Provide practical legal and regulatory guidance to investment, operations, and business teams to support informed decision-making in a fast-moving market.
• Support legal and compliance initiatives related to the firm's U.S. expansion, including build-out of U.S.-specific processes, documentation, and regulatory frameworks.
• Act as day-to-day point of contact for external counsel on defined matters, managing workflows, timelines, and information flow.
• Help design, document, and refine internal legal and compliance processes as the platform scales.

The role is a full-time in-office role in New York. Part-time (60–80%) may be considered depending on candidate.

Desired Background

• Second to third-year associate from a top-tier law firm
• Experience and/or strong personal/professional interest in digital assets
• Transactional experience in private and/or liquid investments including funds
• Fund formation and management
• Regulatory/Compliance
